Troubleshooting Audit Trail issues

Sometimes, you may find that the events you are trying to find in the Audit Trail are not showing up. This article will aim to answer why this issue occurs.
In this article:
1. Items not found
There are a couple of reasons why you may not be able to find certain items.
First, check if the item was deleted. To do so, select the 'Deletes' filter in the Audit Trail and look through the results to see if your item shows up.
Another possibility is that a User has changed the Code or Title (or both) for the item. In the example below, the Code and the Short name were changed, but the old information should still be available as part of the update message, making it possible to find.
2. Items not filterable
There are some entries that you may not be able to surface using the available filters.
For example, a User being created shows up as an 'Insert' type event but has no item category against this, meaning you cannot drill down the filters enough to show it without including other events.
To find these events specifically, you can export the data by copying the results screen and pasting into Excel. Then, use the column settings to filter the events further:
