Building and modifying Portals

Portals are the first page seen by a User once they log in. They are fully customisable and can show information from multiple areas in once place. This guide covers how to edit the layout of a Portal, and what options and tools are available.
In this article:
1. Portal structure
Portals consists of rows and components, which are structured like a table. Each Portal can have an unlimited number of rows and up to six components in each row.
Components display information from various modules in the form of charts, tables, and other components. They can be resized as needed.
To create a Portal:
- Open the Go To... menu.
- Hover over 'Portals'.
- Click 'New...'.
- Select 'Portal'.
- Name your Portal.
- Click 'Save & Close'.
You will be taken to the Portal view, where you can edit its layout by clicking on its rows and components. If you want to edit an existing Portal, click 'Portal Name▼' and select 'Edit Layout' to return to this view.
Don't have access to the Portals module?
You may still be able to create and view Portals by navigating to the 'Portals' or 'Portal Groups' lists from the 'Reporting' section of the Go To... menu.
2. Portal rows
To add a row:
- Open a Portal.
- Click 'Portal Name▼'.
- Select 'Edit Layout'.
- Click 'Add Row▼'.
- Select the number of components.
You can find additional settings for a row under the 'Move▼' and 'Layout▼' options.
3. Portal components
There are four main types of components:
- Table - Display a list of items in a table format.
- Chart - Display data in a chart format.
- Count - Display items returned by a Query.
- Other - Display additional components, such as 'Text' and 'Image'.
Selecting one of the component Types will display a pop-up menu listing each available component of that type, separated by module.
To add a component to an existing row:
- Open a Portal.
- Click 'Portal Name▼'.
- Select 'Edit Layout'.
- Click 'Layout▼'.
- Choose 'Add a Component'.
You can find additional settings for a component under the small cog icon in the top-right of the view.
