Setting up and managing Policy Types

1. Policy Types setup
To access Policy Types:
- Open the Go To... menu.
- Hover over 'Site Admin' at the bottom of the menu.
- Select 'Policy Types' (under 'Policies').
Once there, you should be presented with this page:
2. Creating Policy Types
To create a Policy Type:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Click 'Policy Types▼' in the top left corner of the view.
- Select 'New Policy Type'.
You'll be prompted to enter a name, icon, and description for your Policy Type in the pop-up box. - Click 'Save & Close'.
Once created, you'll be taken back to the setup view, with your newly created Policy Type highlighted:
From this view, you can add Ownerships of the Policy Type and any Policies that fall under it.
Default Ownerships
To add Default Ownerships:
- Click 'Default Ownerships▼'
- Choose 'Administered By' or 'Also Visible To'.
- Enter the name of the User you'd like to add.
- Click 'Search'.
- Tick the box next to each User want to add.
- Click 'Add Users/Roles'
Policies in this Policy Type
To add Policies:
- Click 'Policies in this Policy Type▼'.
- Select 'Add Policies'.
- Enter the name of the Policy you'd like to add.
- Click 'Search'.
- Tick the box next to each Policy you want to add.
- Click 'Add Policies'.
3. Editing Policy Types
To edit a Policy Type:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Select the Policy Type you'd like to amend on the left.
- Click 'Policy Name Type▼'.
- Select 'Edit'.
- Change the name, icon, or description.
- Click 'Save & Close'.
This will not change the Default Ownerships or Policies in this Policy Type settings.
Default Ownerships
To edit Default Ownerships:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Click 'Ownership Type▼'.
- Select 'Remove Owners' or 'Remove All'.
You'll be prompted to confirm which Owners need to be removed in the pop-up.
Policies in this Policy Type
To edit Policies in this Policy Type:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Click 'Policies in this Policy Type▼'.
- Select 'Remove Policies' or 'Remove All'.
You'll be prompted to confirm which Policies need to be removed in the pop-up.
You can also use the 'Move Policies into this Policy Type' to easily change the organisation of your Policies.
4. Duplicating Policy Types
To create a Policy Type with the same settings as an existing one:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Select the Policy Type you'd like to duplicate on the left.
- Click 'Policy Name Type▼'.
- Select 'Duplicate'.
You'll be prompted to confirm that you'd like to duplicate this Policy Type in the pop-up box. - Click 'Duplicate'.
You will be taken back to the overview of all Policies, with the duplicated Policy highlighted:
Description and Default Ownerships will match the ones assigned to the original Policy Type, but no Policies will be present, as they'll still be assigned to the original Policy Type.
For clarity, we also recommend you change the name of the Policy Type from 'Copy of Policy Type Name'.
5. Deleting Policy Types
To delete a Policy Type:
- Open the Policy Types setup.
- Select the Policy Type you'd like to duplicate on the left.
- Click 'Policy Name Type▼'.
- Select 'Delete'.
You'll be prompted to confirm that you'd like to duplicate this Policy Type in the pop-up box. - Click 'Delete'.
Policy Type still there after the page refreshes?
Make sure that you remove or move the Policies under the Policy Type you are trying to delete!
