Changing and resetting passwords

Users_Create or higher permissions are required.
There are several methods for changing a User password, whether it's to make sure their account remains secure or to help them recover access to it. This guide outlines all the ways you can change or reset a password on an existing account.
In this article:
1. 'Forgotten your password?' feature
Easiest way for a User to reset their password is to click 'Forgotten your password?' on the login screen.
They will receive a password reset link to the email they enter, providing it's correct and associated with an active account.
2. User notebook
Change Password
To directly change a password:
- Open a User notebook.
- Click 'Last, Name▼'.
- Select 'Change Password'.
You will be shown a pop-up modal where you can enter a new password. - Enter a strong password.
- Click 'Change Password'.
As a rule, avoid using this method, as an account password should only be known to the User. If you must change a password this way, encourage the User to update their password again by following the same steps.
Force Password Change
To force a password change:
- Open a User notebook.
- Click 'Last, Name▼'.
- Select 'Force Password Change'.
You will be asked to confirm your request. - Click 'Force Password Change'
Next time the User logs into the application, they will be asked to update their password.
Send First Time Log In Email
To force a password change:
- Open a User notebook.
- Click 'Last, Name▼'.
- Select 'Send First Time Log In Email'.
You will be asked to confirm your request. - Click 'Send Email'.
This will send an email detailing login information and the ‘Forgotten Password’ link to the email address associated with the User profile.
