Troubleshooting Performance Indicator format issues

When you've set custom formats for your Performance Indicator(s), you may sometimes find that the data behaves strangely. This article will outline the most common problem scenarios and suggest fixes.

1. Discrepancies between Value and Gauge/Trend
PI values are stored in the database up to five decimal values, and this is the calculated values that power the gauge and trend calculations. If a mask forces the PI to display a rounded value, this can make it seem like the PI is not calculating correctly.
To resolve this issue, remove the formatting.
2. Gauge displaying warning message
Gauges affected by the previous issue willdisplay the following rounding message:

This indicates that the rounded value will affect your gauge status, generally as a result of rounding up over a threshold.

3. Unable to add negative data
If your PI enforces a positive (+) or negative value (-), it will automatically prefix the data you enter with this character, creating an invalid data row:
