Adding and administering Internal Controls
Who is this article for?Users who want to set up standardised controls for their Risks.
Internal_Control_Create or higher permissions are required.
Internal Controls are put in place to minimise a Risk. This article will walk you through how to add these controls and attach them to one or more of your Risks that have been identified.

1. Internal Controls list
To access the Internal Controls list:
- Open the Go To... menu.
- Hover over 'Risks'.
- Select 'Internal Controls' (under 'Internal Controls').
You will be taken to an overview page:
2. Adding Internal Controls
To add Internal Controls:
- Open the Internal Controls list.
- Click 'Internal Controls▼'.
- Select 'New Internal Control'.
You'll be prompted to enter details. - Tick the 'Impact' box if you want to monitor against Impact.
- Tick the 'Likelihood' box if you want to monitor against Likelihood.
- Click 'Save & Close'.
Once created, you'll be taken to your Control's notebook where you can attach it to Risks.
- Alternatively, click 'Save & Create Another' to create multiple records.
You will see a green bar with a successful message at the top of the modal for few seconds and the input field will be cleared for the next entry.
3. Administering Internal Controls
To administer Internal Controls:
- Open the Internal Controls list.
- Click the hyperlinked name of the Control you need.
- Switch to the 'Risks' tab.
- Click 'Risks▼'.
- Select 'New Risks'.
You will be presented with a search pop-up. - Tick the boxes next to all the Risks you need to add the Control to.
- Click 'Selected'.
- Confirm your selection by clicking 'Save & Close'.
You will now see the list of all Risks the Control has been added to in the 'Risks' tab.
4. Editing Internal Controls
To edit an Internal Control:
- Open the Internal Controls list.
- Select the hyperlinked name of the Control you want to modify.
- Click 'Control Name▼'.
- Select 'Edit'.
You'll be able to edit all the information you entered initially. - Click Save & Close'.
5. Duplicating Internal Controls
To create an Internal Control with the same settings as an existing one:
- Open the Internal Controls list.
- Right-click the Control you'd like to copy.
- Select 'Duplicate'.
You'll be prompted to confirm that you'd like to complete the request. - Click 'Duplicate'.
You will be taken back to the overview of all Internal Controls, with the item highlighted:
6. Deleting Internal Controls
To delete an Internal Control:
- Open the Internal Controls list.
- Right-click the Control you'd like to remove.
- Select 'Delete'.
You'll be prompted to confirm that you'd like to delete it. - Click 'Delete'.
