Depending on its progress, a Risk can display one of many statuses. This article contains the full list of statuses and their behaviour.
1. Status overview
| Status | Icon | Description |
|---|---|---|
| OK | Indicates no Risk. | |
| Alert | Indicates a high Risk. | |
| High Risk | Indicates a high Risk but not at Alert status. | |
| Warning | Indicates medium Risk. | |
| Unknown | Unable to determine due to missing data. | |
| Rider icon |
When a Risk icon shows a Rider icon, this means that although the overall status for this Risk register is amber, there is something underneath that is at red and may need further investigation. |
2. Status behaviour
Behaviour of Parent Risk statuses is decided by the selected Risk Aggregation Type option.
Average Assessment
This option averages the Impact and Likelihood scores from each Child-level Risk, and adds this as an assessment to the Parent Risk. These Parent-level assessments are counted as true assessments further up the Risk tree.
Need an example of how this is calculated?
A Parent Risk has 6 Sub-Risks and their impact and likelihood assessment scores are:
16 (4x4), 12 (4x3), 12 (4x3), 12 (3x4), 16 (4x4) and 12 (4x3)
For the Parent Risk, the system calculates the average score for both the impact and likelihood values from the Sub-Risk items:
Impact Scores: 4 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 4 + 4 / 6
Average Score = 3.8 (round up to 4)
Likelihood Scores: 4 + 3 + 3 + 4 + 3 / 6
Average Score = 3.5 (round up to 4)
This means the Parents Risks impact and likelihood assessment score is:
(4x4) which has an assessment value of 16 (the assessment value is set in the Risk Matrix configurations)
Worst Child
This option means that the worst Status from a child-level Risk is assigned to its Parents, and doesn't count as a separate assessment. Only the Child-level Risks will appear in the Matrix.
