Configuring sorting by column headers (Code or title)
Who is this article for?
Users who want to configuring sorting by column headers
No specific access or permissions are required
Sorting Performance Indicators (PIs) effectively is key to presenting meaningful data in reports and dashboards.
his article explains two practical methods for sorting PIs.
1. Configuring sorting
To configure sorting by column headers:
- Click a column header (such as Code or Title) in the Results tab.
The system will sort the PIs alphabetically or numerically. Toggle between ascending and descending order.
Example
You have the following PIs:
Code Title A01 Revenue Growth A02 Customer Retention A03 Compliance Rate A04 Risk Reduction - Clicking on the Code column will sort them:
- Ascending (A01 → A04)
- Descending (A04 → A01)
This method works well if your codes or titles already reflect the desired order.
2. Sorting the entries
If you want to display PIs in a specific order that doesn’t follow Code or Title, use the Sort column.
To sort the PIs:
- Go to the PI setup (not the query).
- Assign custom sort codes:
Example
You have the following PIs:
Code Title A01 Revenue Growth A02 Customer Retention A03 Compliance Rate A04 Risk Reduction
- Go to the PI query.
- Add the Sort column in the Results tab.
- Click the Sort column header to sort by these custom codes.
Your PIs will appear in the exact order you defined, regardless of their Code or Title. This is useful when you want to:
- prioritise PIs based on importance.
- establish a specific reporting sequence.
- maintain consistency across users and reports.
3. Limitations
You can't:
- Type directly into the Sort column in the query.
- Skip setting up sort codes in the PI setup.
- Edit the Sort column in the query; it's read-only.
If your PI codes already reflect the correct order, sorting by Code is sufficient. For a custom order, use the Sort column - just make sure to configure the sort codes in the PI setup first.
