Administered By ownership or higherpermissions are required.
While there are several native components you can use to visualise data displayed in a Portal, sometimes you may want to use a static image. This article will show you how to add images to Portals.
In this article:
1. Enabling images
Before you can use an image uploaded to the Documents module in Portals, Reports, and Strategy Maps, you need to enable the 'Allow use as an image in Portals and Reports' options.
You can find this option in two locations:
Before uploading
When uploading a new Document, if it is a supported image file type, the option will be available just above the 'Start Uploading' button.
After uploading
Navigate to the Document notebook for the image and select 'Edit' from the title menu. The option will be available at the bottom of the pop-up.
Unsure if your image file type is supported?
We recommend you save your file as one of the following file types: .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png.
2. Inserting images
To insert an image:
- Open a Portal.
- Click 'Portal Name▼'.
- Select 'Edit Layout'.
- Click 'Other▼' (under 'Choose a component type').
- Choose 'Image' from the menu.
- Select an image from the list.
Images of unsupported file types will not appear in the list.
Aside from the standard 'Text' and 'Frame Colour' component settings, you can also change:
- Alignment - Choose how the image will be aligned within the row.
- Link URL - Enter a URL into this field to add a hyperlink to the image. Users will be taken to the linked site when they click the image.
- Open link in new Tab - Select this option to open the above website in a new browser tab.
