Audit Trail
Tool which automatically tracks and retains records of the creation, modification, and deletion of information and data within the system. These activity records are stored for 6 months before being deleted. The logging functionality is intended to maintain accountability for user actions and preserve data integrity.
Admin
Space where all admin-level tasks can be carried out.
Benchmarking
Process of comparing one's business Performance Indicators to industry standards or best practices from other companies.
Browse page
Page which displays module items organised in a tree-structured hierarchy, in their proper order from top to bottom. The tree view pages present critical information for each module item that allows you to check and update its status.
Browser
Version of Ideagen Risk Management accessed through a web browser.
Bullet Chart
Small graphic designed to provide at-a-glance information about certain items in Ideagen Risk Management. There are currently two versions of the Bullet Chart: one for Performance Indicators and one for Risks.
Child
Name given to any item that is below another in a tree-structured hierarchy.
Classic
Version of Ideagen Risk Management accessed through a Java-based desktop application.
Complex Permissions
Permissions that only take effect when the user with that Permission is within the required Ownership.
Component
(Browser version only) Information-containing sections that make up a Portal. They are fully customisable, and can contain charts, graphs, images, tables, and text.
Compliances
Name of the module in Ideagen Risk Management used to run Assessments on adherence to documented procedures.
Also known as Models.
Custom String
User-defined sequence of characters that serves as customisable text or data representation.
Customer Fields
Fields added to Ideagen Risk Management at the request of the User.
Dashboard
(Classic only) Classic view that displays charted information, based on the current statuses of items in Ideagen Risk Management, such as PIs or Actions.
Deactivate
Action of deactivating an item to hide it from the view of regular Users.
Development Plan
Part of the Appraisals module, they allow for logging all plans for a User's development in one place.
Employee Performance Management (EMP)
Classic only
Another name for the Appraisals module.
Filter
Tools which affect what items are shown on a list page.
First Tab
Tab which appears first in a Module's Notebook. It can be customised by a Site Admin.
Folding Panel
Sections in Ideagen Risk Management that expand to reveal their data when selected, such as the Ownerships section for any item.
Formatted text box
Editable text field used primarily where a large amount of text need to be added.
Gadget
(Classic only) Section of the Home Portal holding a status summary of all items, such as Actions or Performance Indicators, that a User is responsible for in Ideagen Risk Management.
Go To... menu
Access menu located in the top left of every page.
Home Portal
First page that the User sees after logging in to Ideagen Risk Management. In the Browser version, it can be set on a per-User, per-Role, or on-sitewide basis.
Inherited Ownership
Indirect item assigned to a User through automatic system rules, not through a direct assignment. For example, a User could gain access to an item by belonging to a certain Role or by having Ownership of the Parent item. Inherited Ownership items appear grey in item lists and cannot be directly removed by the User.
Linked Item
Items from different (or same) Module linked to one another.
Models
Name of the module in Ideagen Risk Management used to run Assessments on adherence to documented procedures.
Also known as Compliances.

Natural Language ordering
Sorting of number sequences by value in the way a human would read and interpret them. For example, natural ordering would list the sequence [1, 2, 10] as [1, 2, 10] rather than [1, 10, 2], since humans would logically consider two to come before ten.
Normalised Values
Values calculated to represent the performance of a Performance Indicator, relative to their Targets.
Notebook
Detailed view of an item in Ideagen Risk Management, which holds all information relating to that item. In the Browser version, this view will take you to a new page, and in the Classic version, this view opens next to the item list.
Owners
Users who have had an item directly assigned to them.
Parent
Name given to any item that is above another in a tree-structured hierarchy.
Also known as a Root if it has no Parent item of its own.
Performance Indicator
Module within Ideagen Risk Management used to track and record performance metrics.
Permissions
Authorisation given to Users enabling them to access and manipulate data, features, and functions.
Portal Group
(Browser only)
Collection of several individual Portals, collected into multiple tabs.
Query
Method of more complex searching for an item using advanced properties, like Status or Ownership. Queries can be created for Actions, Feedback, Performance Indicators, Risks, Internal Controls, and Reports. They can be saved and run every time the search needs to be performance.
RAG Status
Red, Amber, or Green status shown on an item.
Re-stringing
Task of finding and replacing specific wording on the site with another value. These changes can only be done by a Ideagen Risk Management Support member.
Role
Entity that automatically grants Permissions and Ownerships to all Users who have been assigned the Role. Users can belong to multiple Roles, inheriting all unique Permissions and Ownerships from each one.
Root
Name given to any item that is at the top of a tree-structured hierarchy. It does not have a Parent but may have Children items.
Search list
Display for results of a basic search available in each Module.
Section
Area in a Notebook holding information relative to the Title.
Site Admin
User with full administrative Permissions who can perform any action on the system.
Site Setup
Module and Site settings only accessible by Site Admins.
Support Portal
Ideagen Help, a web portal used to access articles, guides, and raise support tickets.
Timeline
Visualisation of the progress of Actions, in calendar progression.
Topic Buttons
(Classic only) Circular buttons located along the bottom of the application, used to navigate the different areas of Classic.
Tree Structure
Cascading display for items in a tree-structured hierarchy.
Trigger
Tool used to send email notifications to Users, prompting them to make required updates to their items.
User
Person who logs in to Ideagen Risk Management.
Web Publishing
Optional module allowing for the creation of widgets that can be embedded into a website or used in digital signage.
